This chapter has three major points:
Have a strong foundation in the Lord: The verse sounds very similar to Jesus' story of the wise man who built his house upon the rock and the foolish man who built his house upon the sand. Most of you already know this and those who don't will, your life will be rocked by something and that is when your true foundation is revealed. The wise man builds his house upon the rock.
Be Kind: Don't gossip and remember that you are to be what God wants to see in the world. You carry the representation of Christ into the world. No, it won't always be a perfect picture but it should look more like Christ than it does human and it should grow.
Work Hard: Whether its homework, extra curricular stuff, or cleaning your room it should be like God told you to do it and He definitely deserves our best effort. We are working for more than the instant pay off, we should work for the long term goal of being what God has called us to be.
