What is the hardest part of your life to give up and give to God?
How do you treat and/or think about the poor?
Some verses that stuck out to me:
v. 3 Sometimes we like to make a big deal about what we are "sacrificing" for God, when in reality we have made life all about us and we are not acting rightly or fairly.
v.5 It is vital that we remain consistent and grow closer everyday, even when it doesn't feel like there is progress we must remain diligent in our goal. When God has given us an opportunity to go to school, earn money, compete in athletics, participate in band, etc. we must do it with hard work and commitment not quit because it isn't always exciting or fun.
v. 13 This verse again attacks the "me first" mentality. When we give to others we become more aware that our needs are provided.
v.23 "guards his mouth" is an interesting phrase. Think of your mouth as the city gate where armed guards stand to protect the city from harmful enemies. The Holy Spirit is the guard and as we grow in Christ we become more aware of the Spirit's work in keeping harmful words from coming out of our mouths and destroying ourselves and those in our path. A guarded mouth, speaks when necessary with discernment and wisdom.
Be wise and...
Go Live!
