Romans 8 and 9 (click here)

A note from Justin: I deeply apologize for not posting yesterday. I read the passage and simply forgot to post. Today is Ch. 9 of Romans, so we're still on track, I hope you keep reading. Again, I'm sorry for my absent mindedness

Romans 8 and 9

Ch. 8 is actually pretty straightforward, if we live in the Spirit we experience peace, contentment, and clarity even in the really confusing world we live in. The last section of verses speak of the victory believers have because of the love of Christ given on our behalf. The phrase "more than conquerors" could be understood from the original language as "super conquerors", as believers rooted in the Spirit we do not just survive we overwhelmingly overcome. This is not just talking about after we die and go to Heaven, but we should live in the fact that we stuff comes we have a deep hope in the God who spoke the world into existence. Life is tough, really tough some times but the love of Christ cover all of it and victory is possible if we stay close to Him. Even if we don't know how to pray in those times the Spirit calls out. Don't just hang in there, hang on to Christ and super conquer.

Ch. 9 begins to deal with the salvation of the Jewish people and inclusion of non Jews into that plan. There are probably a lot more questions here than answers, so I'm gonna let questions or statements guide the discussion of ch. 9. Go live.

the Message : How can we sum this up? All those people who didn't seem interested in what God was doing actually embraced what God was doing as he straightened out their lives. And Israel, who seemed so interested in reading and talking about what God was doing, missed it. How could they miss it? Because instead of trusting God, they took over. They were absorbed in what they themselves were doing. They were so absorbed in their "God projects" that they didn't notice God right in front of them, like a huge rock in the middle of the road. And so they stumbled into him and went sprawling.
i liked this translation, seemed easier for me to grasp....
trying to make sure i'm not just playing church and missing God in front of me
