Proverbs 9 (click here)

Proverbs 9

The first half of this chapter talks once again about the importance of gaining wisdom and where it comes from. We as human beings are limited in our ability to do right and make wise decisions. We must realize our lack of understanding, admit to ourselves and to God and run after wisdom. Wisdom begins with "a FEAR of the Lord." That word fear is not the "mufasa fear" (Lion King reference) but a reverence and acknowledgement that God knows far more than we do and He has the perfect way of doing things. A lot of us want to "fix" our lives but we don't want to stop doing, saying, or thinking things that go against God. God is the real fixer, but we have to be fixed on His terms. This doesn't mean never doing anything wrong again, but it means desiring to put ourselves under the authority of God Almighty, it's where we belong.
The last half of the chapter puts "folly" in the same position "wisdom" is in, in Ch.8. Folly yells out to us that we should follow her. But before you get on a path you should know the destination. The destination of folly is pointless and empty. Verses 7 and 8 are very interesting because they speak about trying to correct someone who has gone off the right path. We should be a steady example, but you can't talk somebody out of folly unless God changes their heart to seek wisdom. So when people reject GOOD advice, continue to pray that their heart will be changed, because only then will they respond to your friendly warning.

Have a great day and...

Go Live.

This has the potential to not make sense at all.... I think that a lot of times we stand in our own way when it comes to wisdom. Many times I feel like God has instilled wisdom into my heart on certain occasions but I second guess myself so much that I don't realize that I have known the right answer from the beginning. I think that happens to a lot of people. It seems like, in many situations, that people need to have this floaty happy feeling or this sure fire in their hearts to know that their decision is correct. However, that is not usually the case. I've seen this in my own personal life. Many times God doesn't show you the right path in bold neon colors. He just gives you a little nudge and wants you to trust Him. I think with our fear many times and second guessing we end up etching out the right answers that were there all along..... Wow that was long. Sorry. Rather wordy today.... Love the Lion King reference :)
