Some familiar themes in this chapter. We see discernment mentioned, click here for the dictionary definition, true discernment is a given by the Holy Spirit and is the wisdom of looking ahead with a well rounded Godly perspective.
These are a couple of verses that stuck out to me:
- v. 17 Discernment comes into play here. This verse is not saying that we should give all our money to whomever asks. But, when the Spirit reveals a real need and we have the opportunity we should happily give. If we are wise with the money God allows us to have we will have more opportunities to be blessed and be a blessing through giving.
- v. 20 Often we don't want to listen to good advice because often we already know the right thing to do and either think we just cannot or we do not want to do it. When someone loves you enough to pull you aside and give you Godly advice (God will confirm this if you ask) it is best in the long run to listen.
- v. 23 The phrase "untouched by trouble" really stood out to me. What a way to live! Not many of us really want to get into trouble, at least at first. After a while it becomes kind of fun, but it always ends poorly and its unwise. Following the Lord isn't always exciting at first glance, but when we see the big picture it's gratifying and exciting to see the opportunities that open up because we follow the Lord.
No matter what you have done up to this point, you can leave the unwise life and follow the path of the Lord. Ask for His forgiveness, stop touching trouble, realize His way is best, and...
Go Live
