Proverbs 12 (click here)
The first and the last verses in this chapter really hit me. Discipline is not something that anyone generally gets excited about. But Scripture speaks often of it, and says that God disciplines the ones He loves. Discipline is the practice of doing the right thing, we need to discipline our entire bodies to do the right thing. This is not an overnight occurance, it taks time, commitment, and focus. God will discipline us, if we will let Him and what we are forced to get rid of does not compare to the life we will have in return. The start of the school year is a wonderful time to look at our discipline. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 is a great verse to remind us of the dedication it takes to live a disciplined life. The last half of verse 1 makes it clear that the alternative to being disciplined is being stupid, let's not be stoooopid.
Each of these posts ends with "Go Live" I hope you have noticed that. Proverbs 12:28 is saying the exact same thing and it tells us how and why. Living right is really the way to live, and God will enable you to do that. Immortality is kind of crazy to think about and it brings up images of super heroes or characters who cannot be killed no matter what. That's not what this immortality is talking about, its talking about a forever life. We start the forever life the minute we come to Jesus and so we should live like it.
