Welcome to 68 Days In the Word
Our student ministry at Faith Baptist Church just returned this past Friday from Horizon Summer Camp at Heart of Texas Baptist Encampment in Brownwood, TX. It was a great week and our students had a great time enjoying the presence of the Lord and one another. There were two points made during the week that really had an impact on me. First, was the explanation that God always seeks to be in conversation with us, and as His followers in relationship with Him we should wholeheartedly participate in that conversation. Second, was the challenge to grow in our relationship with the Lord by reading His word. Now this sounds like typical camp rhetoric but this time it really hit me, if life happens after camp how can we best be prepared to stay focused? The answer lies in living by the Spirit and one major way the Spirit speaks is through God's word. So, this blog was created to provide a place of challenge, accountability, and conversation while we seek to get a well rounded albeit small picture of God's word. We want this to be a beginning and not an end. So the plan is to read a chapter a day beginning with John (21 days) then Romans (16 days), and Proverbs (31 days). This is a total of 68 days, thus the title of the blog and the prayer that in these next 68 days that revival will come in our lives, our families, our church, and our community as the Spirit speaks through God's word. We start Monday, July 6th and will post observations and questions each day. Please leave comments about what the scripture says and how it applies to your life, messages of encouragement and challenge are also welcomed. I am excited about the possibilities and pray for God's blessing as we read, do, and live the truth of His revelation to humanity.
