John 15 (click here)

This is a difficult passage for me in some ways because I don't fully understand the gardening explanation. I do know that the vine is the source of life for the branches that come off of it, so let's start there:

  • If Christ is the vine, what kind of fruit will He produce in His branches?
  • If we don't bear fruit, what does it mean to be cut off?
  • How does a branch remain or stay on the vine, how do we do that?

I am guilty, I must confess, of passing over the verses about love because I know it's important that Jesus loves me and that I love others but I really don't give it proper time.

  • Why do you think it's important to understand the love of Jesus?
  • How do you show this love to others?
  • If you don't know the love of Jesus, is it possible to love someone else?

  • Does this passage teach that we must be hated by the world to be followers of Christ?
  • Who's opinion of you is the most important to you?
  • How does the answer to the previous question guide the way you live your life?
