Jesus uses the illustration of the shepherd and the sheep pen to show that is the One to really follow. He is the good shepherd, but are we good sheep? He is not only the shepherd, the caretaker, he is also the sheep gate, the only real access for the sheep.

• What thieves do we allow in our lives that lead us away from Christ, the good shepherd?
• v. 10- What does the "life to the full" look like, and do you experience that in your life?

Several times now in John the Jews have tried to sieze him and have even had stones in their hands, yet we are repeatedly told that Jesus' time had not come and he escaped. Also in this chapter Jesus speaks of laying down His life willingly and picking it up again, without anyone taking it from Him.

• What does this say about God's control over the cross?
• If the cross was His idea what does that say about His character and His love for you?

The last few verses talk about Him going back to where His ministry began, and the people seeing the truth in Him?

• If Christ is truth, what does that call us to do in response?
• Why are false things so tempting?
• Is your life true, is it consistent?
